Privacy policy

West Coast Body Jewelry ("we", "us", "our") supplies implant-grade body jewelry to professional piercing studios. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through wcbjewelry.com (the "Site"), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies in addition to our Terms of Service.
Personal information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the business. Depending on how you use the Site, that may include:
- Contact and account details — first and last name, business name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, and the website or social media link you provide on a wholesale application.
- Order information — the products you buy, order value, order history, and shipping and tracking details.
- Payment information — processed by Shopify and its payment providers. We do not store full card numbers.
- Wholesale application information — the details you enter on our application form, including how you heard about us.
- Technical and usage information — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, products viewed, referring site, and similar information collected automatically when you browse (see Cookies and tracking).
- Communications — messages you send us by email or through the contact form, and whether you opened or clicked our emails.
How we collect it
- Directly from you — wholesale application, account registration, checkout, contact form, or email.
- Automatically as you browse the Site, through cookies and similar technologies.
- From our service providers, such as our ecommerce platform and email provider.
How we use it
We use personal information to:
- review and approve wholesale account applications;
- process, ship and support your orders, and communicate with you about them;
- provide customer service and answer your questions;
- send you account notifications, such as confirmation that your wholesale account has been approved;
- send marketing emails about products and offers, where you have consented or where we are otherwise permitted to do so under Canadian anti-spam law;
- measure and improve the Site and our advertising;
- detect and prevent fraud, and meet our legal and tax obligations.
Consent
By providing personal information to us, you consent to our collecting, using and disclosing it as described in this Privacy Policy. Where we rely on your consent to send marketing email, you may withdraw that consent at any time — see Your choices. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect messages we need to send you about your account or your orders.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who need it to deliver our service to you, and only for that purpose:
- Shopify — our ecommerce platform. Hosts the Site, processes orders and payments, and provides store analytics.
- Klaviyo — our email and messaging provider. Receives your contact details and on-site activity so we can send account and marketing emails.
- Meta Platforms — we use the Meta Pixel to measure and target our advertising. See Cookies and tracking.
- Globo Form Builder — processes wholesale application submissions.
- Shipping carriers and payment processors — to deliver your order and take payment.
Some of these providers are located outside Canada, including in the United States, and your information may be stored or processed there and be subject to the laws of those countries.
We may also disclose personal information where the law requires it, in connection with legal proceedings, to establish or defend our legal rights, or to a buyer in connection with the sale of our business.
If you follow a link from our Site to another website, we are not responsible for that site's privacy practices.
Cookies and tracking
A cookie is a small file stored on your device by a website. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies on the Site for the following purposes:
- Necessary — to keep you signed in, remember your cart, and keep the Site secure.
- Analytics — Shopify's built-in analytics, and Klaviyo's on-site tracking, which records pages and products you view so we can tailor the emails you receive.
- Advertising — the Meta Pixel, which reports your activity on the Site to Meta so we can measure our advertising and show ads to relevant audiences on Facebook and Instagram.
Because we use the Meta Pixel and Klaviyo's on-site tracking, some of your activity on this Site is shared with those third parties and may be combined with information they already hold about you.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the Site may stop working properly. You can also control how Meta uses your information through your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" preference. There is no common standard for how sites should respond to it, and our Site does not currently respond to browser-initiated Do Not Track signals.
Text messages (SMS)
If you give us permission, we may send text messages to the mobile number you provide — for example, to confirm that your wholesale account application has been received or approved. We do not currently send marketing text messages.
What we collect. Your mobile number, a record of your consent (when and where you gave it), and delivery information such as whether a message was sent, delivered or failed.
How we use it. To send you the messages you asked for. We do not use your mobile number for any other purpose.
Who we share it with. Our messaging provider, Klaviyo, and mobile carriers, solely to deliver the messages. We do not sell your mobile number and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Withdrawing consent. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or email us at info@wcbjewelry.com. Reply HELP for assistance. Agreeing to receive text messages is never a condition of applying for or holding a wholesale account. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, and for as long as we are required to keep business and tax records. Wholesale account and order records are generally kept for the life of the account and for the period required by Canadian tax law after that. You can ask us to delete information we are not required to keep — see Your choices.
How we protect it
The Site runs on Shopify, and we rely on their security infrastructure, including encrypted connections and PCI-compliant payment handling. We limit access to personal information to people in our organization who need it. No method of transmission or storage over the Internet is completely secure, so while we take reasonable precautions we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our Site and products are intended for professional piercing studios and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes we hold information about their child can contact us at the address below.
Your choices
- Marketing email — click "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email, or email us and we will remove you.
- Access, correction and deletion — you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, how we have used it, and who we have shared it with. You can ask us to correct it or delete it.
- Withdraw consent — you can withdraw consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
- Complaints — if you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to keep it accurate and compliant. When we do, we will update the Effective date above. We recommend reviewing it periodically, and we may notify you by email of significant changes.
